Christian Web News - Rev. Peter Imasuen, an Anglican bishop in Nigeria's southern state of Edo, was kidnapped after mass and is being held for ransom, reported a Christian leader on Monday.
As he arrived home on church from Sunday, the Rev. Peter Imasuen, who is bishop of Edo's state capital, Benin City, was reportedly ambushed and seized. "We were told he was kidnapped yesterday," Samuel Salifu, secretary general of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), told Agence France-Presse. "We are trying to establish what exactly happened but we understand the kidnappers are asking for 15 million naira (about 100,000 dollars)," he added. Imasuen's abduction came only a week after clashes between Muslims and Christians which left nearly 500 people dead in and around the central city of Jos.
