Mexico Gunman Order Priest and Two Seminarians Killed |

In a drug - plagued region of western Mexico according to authorities a gunmen ordered a priest and two seminarians out of their vehicle and shot them dead.
This took place as the three drove through the town of Arcelia in Guerrero state where they were going to organize a spiritual retreat according to the Archbishop of Acapulco, Felipe Aguirre Franco. Guerrero's director of investigation, Erit Montufar said no one has been arrested and no motive has been given for these killings. Roman Catholic clergy in Mexico have complained there are increasingly more targets of attacks and more extortion demands as the nation wrestles with a wave of drug cartel - fueled violence. Aquirre Franco said, "We have become hostages in this violent confrontations between the drug cartels living among us." In northern Mexico this past April priests were urged to take extra precautions after a archbishop commented on where the nation's most-wanted trafficker may live. Guerrero, the coastal state where drug traffickers grow marijuana and opium poppies has been in steeped in drug violence for years.
According to the Mexico's attorney general's office, charged 51 guards and prison officials which included the director for their complicity in the escape of 53 inmates from a jail in Zacatecas state. Footage from a security camera showed guards at the Cieneguillas prison stood by as an armed gang walked out with the 53 inmates on May 16. Around one dozen of the fugitives are drug cartel suspects. Nine mid-level military officers were arrested and turned over to them by the army for passing information to the Sinaloa drug cartel. Felipe Calderon, President has struggled to combat rising drug violence and corruption. He has sent out 45,000 troops to drug hot spots since taking office in December of 2006. Over 10,800 have deceased in drug - related incidents.
