Christian Web News - The following is a statement from former Miss Delaware and President of the National Black Pro- Life Union, Day Gardner.
I entered pageants in the 'good ole days' way back when it was a bad thing to be a black contestant -- but it was considered a very good thing to be wholesome, moral and honest. Unfortunately, in today's crazy and mixed-up world where sex, violence, ignorance, arrogance and un- Godliness reign, we are seeing Miss California, Carrie Prejean, ridiculed for something as simple as answering a question in her honest opinion. The Miss USA Pageant contestant was unfairly discriminated against and denied the Miss USA crown because of homosexual activist judge Perez Hilton who had a problem with her statement regarding marriage. When asked a question by Hilton about marriage, Carrie stated "marriage should be for a man and a woman." The judge ranted on and on calling her "a dumb b****" with "half a brain." I think if anything, his degrading remarks show it is Perez Hilton who is lacking in the brain department. The judge should have applauded the fact that Carrie spoke her honest opinion rather than lie about her views. She had to know it was a difficult question. She could have lied in order to please the judges and maybe win the crown -- but she didn't. Maybe there is more going on in that pretty head of hers than meets the eye. At any rate, I wish Carrie Prejean well.
