Dr. Barclay attested to the fact that during his travels he has observed that the Body of Christ is losing its identity. We are soldiers of the Cross. We are the last days army of God. Bible says this and the devil knows this. He also knows that he has no power against our weapons.

Those who are of the five-fold ministry (pastor, teacher, prophet, evangelist, and apostle) should be absolutely on fire for God and the Church should be as combustible as a room full of gas just waiting for a spark. The job of the Pastor is not to be a cheerleader. He should not have to entice us to serve God as one might entice a dog with a biscuit.

We shouldn’t be surprised that we have entered the last days and that the end has finally come. The Bible has prophesied after all, that things would continue to deteriorate until Christ’s return. Not that God is judging America. Of course there are things that God is not pleased with concerning America because there are sinners living in this country doing what sinners do - sin. But Jesus shed his blood for sinners. (Not for sin, mind you) Jesus came to redeem the sinner so they don’t have to sin anymore. The same goes for the rest of the world.

Because we’re last days people, we’re going to see a lot of things happen. Matthew 24 says that the day of Christ’s return would be like the days of Noah and Lot; eating, drinking, buying, selling, building and so on. Dr. Barclay believes that this doesn’t just mean prosperity. He believes Jesus was talking about the world market. Right now our market is constantly going up and down as everyone buys and sells and buys and sells just as Jesus described.

In this crazy world, we have to find the peace that passes understanding, but before we can do that, we have to stop trying to serve two different lords. Jesus said you cannot serve both Him and Mammon. Dr. Barclay explained that Mammon isn’t just money. On this earth there are two systems that one can live by. One is the Kingdom of God and the other is the Kingdom of this World or Mammon. Mammon is made up of these five: debt, poverty, lack, lust, and greed. The idea of this Mammon system is to be slave to it.

We are going to have to speak peace to the storms of this life. Nowhere in the Bible do we see that Jesus got up everyday and spoke peace to everyone’s storms. But when the storm came against the boat that Jesus was in, or as Dr. Barclay put it in modern terms “the church that Jesus is in; the house where Jesus was Lord,” He told the winds and the waves to be still.

The problem with modern Christians is that we flirt with the Kingdom of God but still live by the Kingdom of this World. We want what the world has, but the world is not impressed by our riches. Whatever riches we have, the world will always have more. But we have something they don’t; something money can never buy. We have Jesus Christ inside of us and the power of the Holy Spirit.
