At the 2009 National Religious Broadcasters Convention – NRB – Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of the legendary Billy Graham, gave a powerful message about the return of Jesus and the signs of His appearing.
Jesus told his disciples that they should be discerning the signs of the times (Matthew 16). When the disciples asked what those signs would be (Matthew 24) Jesus gave a list of signs that Anne says can be broken down into four categories.
1. Spiritual signs
There will be many false messiahs. A messiah is one who promises to bring peace and prosperity to the world
There will be persecution of Christians. Christians have always faced persecution, but in the past year, persecution has ratcheted up ten to twenty times.
There will be division in the church
There will be false prophets. A false prophet is someone who is said to preach God’s word, but does not speak the truth
There will be an increase in wickedness that directly correlates to the coldness of the human heart towards God
2. National Signs
There will be wars and rumors of wars. In the last century, there have been more wars than any other time in human history. It was also the century when the United Nations was established, just to keep the peace
The Gospel of Luke says nations will face problems that have no human solution.
3. Environmental signs
Famines
Earthquakes
Pestilence
Diseases that have no cure
4. Personal Signs
People will be indifferent to the Word of God. (2nd Timothy 3:2)
Jesus Said that these signs would be like birth pains. Anne described the births of her own three children and the pains that led up to them. She said when you see those pains increasing in frequency and intensity, you know the baby is coming.

There was certainly no mincing of words, He came right out and said, "why are you fearful?" and then went on to say, "O you of little faith." You don't have to read between the lines to see what He was saying, they had little faith.
