cwnewz.com - Fifty-three employees where laid off by Oral Roberts University on Tuesday, and about 40 unfilled positions were eliminated.
"The layoffs announced in November will reduce the annual budget of the university by about $3.5 million", Interim President Ralph Fagin said in a statement from the university.
“Today is a difficult day for ORU because we had to notify some of the members of our ORU family of their inclusion in the reduction in force,” he said. “We will continue to keep the departing employees and their families in our prayers.”
Four faculty members included in this lay off will finish the academic year and then will also receive 20 days of transition pay.
Other workers that were laid off will stop working but continue to stay on ORU's payroll for two months.
Ever since the national economy went down the ORU has been in dire financial straits. The university announced it was $55 million in debt in 2007.
That amount has been reduced to $16 million thanks to a capital fundraising campaign.
Christian Web News - Jesus has a way of getting right to the point, doesn't He? There was certainly no mincing of words, He came right out and said, "why are you fearful?" and then went on to say, "O you of little faith." You don't have to read between the lines to see what He was saying, they had little faith.
Christian Web News - Galatians 3:13-14.
