An atheist soldier has decided to sue over prayers from supposed military formations, claiming that there is a pattern of religious discrimination that exists in the military and also attempts to convert Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan plus an christian point of view in a suicide prevention manual.
The lawsuit was filed Monday by Spc. Dustin Chalker and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation in U.S. District Court in Kansas City. The claim is also saying that the military doesn't take complaints of religious discrimination seriously.
Apparently a little comradery in believing in a higher power when you might die in certain situations is to much to handle for some and possibly hearing about it may change your views.
The Defense Department has identified fewer than 50 complaints about alleged violations of religious freedoms during the past three years, with 1.4 million personnel in uniform, spokeswoman Eileen Lainez said.
She declined to comment on a pending lawsuit but noted that the military has policies against endorsing any religious view.
The Army's 2008 manual on suicide prevention is said to be promoting "religiosity" as a necessary part of prevention and describing "connectivity to the divine" as "fundamental" way of helping in the prevention as part of the lawsuit.
Also the lawsuit is bringing in suposed comments from a chaplain and a second soldier in Christian missionary publications about attempts to convert Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan, including the two soldiers' desire to distribute Bibles.
The lawsuit also notes that in 2007, the Air Force sponsored "Team Faith," which performs motocross stunt shows to "lead extreme sports athletes to Christ."
It doesn't surprise me that a supposedly "christian" news site disparages religious freedom, as long as YOUR particular religion is being illegally pushed by government officials.

What an incredible statement. If it wasn't said by the Lord Jesus Himself then it might be a little hard to swallow, but here it is in black and white for all who will receive.
