A new day dawns in America with joy over new boundaries broken, old dogmas laid aside and mindless prejudices laid to waste.
Change comes and the leaders selected to lead the charge are liberals, the same liberals who support a woman's right to destroy her unborn child, supports homosexual rights and are now making plans for redistributing the wealth. It is now likely that in the four years to come I will watch my aging father be robbed of what he worked so hard for over his entire life, all for this cause the liberals call "the common good". I watched my father's tireless sacrifice throughout his life, motivated by providing the best opportunities for his family. Through blood, sweat, tears and humility before God he worked himself up from literally nothing, so that by the end of his days he could leave an inheritance for those he loves. But now, if any inheritance persists past his death it will be confiscated to a shadow of its former substance in the name of this "greater good". I hoped once to follow in my father's footsteps, providing the best future for my new family and leaving them enough to be well cared for by the time I die.
Unfortunately, this dream began fading as I watched the election returns trickle in Tuesday night and now lies mortally wounded on the floor of discouragement, anticipating the well advertised changes that are soon coming. I know that when I work hard now, instead of working for my family, who I know, love, and wish to bless, I will really be working to support a faceless bureaucracy nominally hidden under the misnomer of "the great community of America". I will console myself, trying to convince myself I am working to help those who need a hand up, those who simply are unable for one reason or another to make it for themselves. But in reality I will really know that, at least partially, I am working for millions who are perfectly capable of advancing themselves but simply choose to squander their blessings supporting their own decadent lifestyles. I will be working for drunkards, drug users, pornographers, prostitutes and degenerates of America who have learned to exploit liberal government policies. Instead of having the freedom to judicially choose where my hard earned money goes and supporting charities I know are honestly working to better the down and out, I will instead be unwillingly forced to enable self-destructive behavior through a new system for redistributing the wealth.
I am hard pressed to understand the enthusiasm for such a totalitarian approach to charitable giving. Enabling men and women to be lazy and live off a system rewarding negative behavior, a system that breeds dependency, isn't my idea of helping. It does not help an alcoholic or addict to give them money for food that will be quickly be bartered for things necessary for feeding their addiction. But now my freedom for choosing charities where I know the money will be used effectively really helping needy people in need will be taken by men whose own record for charitable giving is far below the national average. Disguising themselves as men who "care more for the poor" they discovered long ago how much easier it is to be generous with OTHER PEOPLE's MONEY. It is reported that our new Vice president gave less than 1% of his personal money to charity last year, while insisting it is the "patriotic duty" for the rest of us to support his redistribution efforts. Our generous new president reported giving less less than 5%. Of his income to charities while the average American gave roughly 11% while the "greedy" old guy these two defeated gave over 23%. Nonetheless, America's has decided that these "giants of philanthropy will soon have the right to take what I work for and hand it to those who did not work for it! No man can appreciate the value of a dollar more then the man whose sweat paid for it! This is why our government is so wasteful with other peoples' money and why every program it constructs becomes a bloated bureaucracy, oftentimes supporting distant relatives and friends of those in charge of "redistributing". This is why the leaders of our country are always ready to throw money at our problems problems instead of supporting effort and hard work. This is why socialism fails any country that adopts it.
My dream of America, land of the free, home of the brave has been taken from me and those I love. It has been replaced with a new model for America: land of the weak, home of the apathetic America cannot survive socialism and I fear there are too few guards of true conservatism standing to stem the torrent ahead. I pray I am wrong.
Very well written. You articulate what many of us are feeling but don't quite know how to put into words. We will join you in your prayers for America.
Christian Web News - Galatians 3:13-14. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree''), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Christian Web News - Often when we talk about sin, we use lots of examples such as abortion, homosexuality, murder, substance abuse - I could go on and on. However, I want to direct this little three letter word to the Christian who is serving God and can tell a sinner all about his or her sin. We use to call it “pointing the finger” at someone who does so many bad things.
