The founder of the Christian office and educational supply store chain Mardel, Mart Green said Tuesday he would give $8 million to ORU, and possible 62 million dollars more with a 60-to-90-day review of ORU's financial records.
Mart Green says his family and himself must approve the financial review, after this the $62 million that is being pledged will be given with the stipulation of a request that at least two seats on the board of regents be given over for his family members.
Green says he is interested in "straighten the ship" and bringing back the university's integrity, "let's get trust built back and the rest will go away."
Mr. Green says that he has never attended the university and has had no meetings or ties with the Oral Roberts family. Most of his intrest has come from following the university's story in the news media from the past few weeks and just decided he could possibly step in and help.
The same day the pledge came in was the same day the university regents decided to make plans for the sepreation of finances and leadership of the univeristy from Oral roberts Evangelistic Association.
This past week, university president Richard Roberts, the son of Oral Roberts resigned under all the aligations. Richard Roberts will remain as a chairman of the association and will still be allowed to live on his university-owned home near campus for the time being, according to Mr. George Pearsons, one of the regents' chairman.
As of now Persons says that Richard Roberts and Oral Roberts will remain as what is called "spiritual regents", but they will not be able to vote on any university matters. Lindsay Roberts wife of Richard Roberts stepped down as a regent of ORU about a month ago.
ORU and Richard Roberts have been under the microscope after three former professors sued last month for wrongful termination which brought up allegations of a possible shopping sprees, university jet being used for vactions and more.
Days following the lawsuit, the Oral Roberts University revealed that it was more than $50 million dollars in debt.

John the Baptists said it best: Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand. Love those that go astray and pray for them. Lk.21:36KJ Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

There was certainly no mincing of words, He came right out and said, "why are you fearful?" and then went on to say, "O you of little faith." You don't have to read between the lines to see what He was saying, they had little faith.
Christian Web News - Galatians 3:13-14. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree''), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
