With the situation escalating when both Russian and NATO naval forces increased their presence in the Black Sea, and the US and European Union demanding Russia to withdraw its ground forces from sovereign Georgian territory, Israel quietly stands by to see the out come.
Israel has so far refrained from joining in on the condemning of Russia and its recognition of independence for the breakaway Georgian provinces of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
Despite being an ally of Georgia, Israel seems to fear that publicly siding with the small nation would possibly anger Russia and lead to an even more increasing advance in arms sales to Arab states and terroist that are against Israel.
Israel has sold about $500 million worth of military equipment and training in the last few years to the Georgian army, but halted the transactions earlier in the summer when it became clear that war was becoming more of a possiblity between Russia and Georgia.
Currently Israel has been sending humanitarian aid to Georgia and will also be sending aid to the Russian province of North Ossetia, where many South Ossetian refugees have gathered as well.
Syria tried to exploit Israel's previous military aid to Georgia by asking Russia to sell it advanced offensive weapons and also offered to host Russian ballistic missiles on Syrian soil.
So far Russia says it would entertain the requests, but currently has refrained from making any commitments to the offer.
On a side not over heard from some reporters Russia does intend to significantly bolster its naval presence in the Mediterranean Sea by using bases in Syria.
Christian Web News - Jesus has a way of getting right to the point, doesn't He? There was certainly no mincing of words, He came right out and said, "why are you fearful?" and then went on to say, "O you of little faith." You don't have to read between the lines to see what He was saying, they had little faith.
Christian Web News - Galatians 3:13-14. Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree''), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
