Oral Roberts Takes Back ORU |

"The devil is not going to steal ORU!" That's what Oral Robets, founder of Oral Roberts University, told students and faculty at a chapel service on Monday. Due to the current accusations against the university and the indefinite leave of absence taken by his son, Richard Roberts, Oral Roberts announced that he has moved back to Tulsa from California to take back control of the university, resulting in a standing ovation from the 5,700 students.
Three former professors sued the university earlier this month for wrongful termination. They claimed that they were dismissed because they gave the board of regents evidence of moral and ethical wrongdoing on the part of Richard and Lindsay Roberts. The university will begin mediation with the three former professors this week. The professors attorney, Gary Richardson, said he has no desire to attend mediation as long as ORU "denies doing anything wrong." George Pearsons, chairman of ORU's board of regents, said in an open letter, published in The Tulsa World, that the university has hired an outside legal and accounting firm to conduct a full independent review of the allegations.
