It’s not everyday that I would like to think of myself as a tree, but looking at this verse gives me hope. There is that word again, HOPE, what a wonderful word. That is a word that can always bring me back to the reality that there is light after darkness.
Job 14:7 For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease How many times have we gone through something that really messes us up? The truth of it is we don’t always come out ok. Sometimes even the smallest problem can become a stumbling block. We become very weak and forget all the good things that could possibly happen because we are so focused on how we are feeling at this very moment. The feeling of devastation sets in and we start to give up. But then we remember that word, what was it? Oh yeah, HOPE! Because somewhere in the back of our minds there was a word planted, and that very word can change our very being. So yes there will be times when we are that tree that is an eyesore to most, the tree that everyone walks by and hopes that lighting will break it, or even worse it will just die and fall over. But I am here to remind you that you are that tender branch that is spoke of in Job. You know the one that WILL NOT CEASE! Praise God, how awesome it is to know that even when we are at our darkest hour and everyone else has given up on our recovery, God steps in and reminds us that we are going through something that might be painful, but there is hope of a new day, a day of restoration.
