If the foster parents were asked to teach the children that homosexuals were still people and should be treated with as much respect as anyone else, there would be no problem. This is what equality means. However, there is a problem when the parents are required to to tell the children that homosexuality is just another lifestyle choice equal to any other. The difference is between promoting equality between people, which we is good, and promoting equality between ideals, which simply makes no sense.

To make what I said about comparison of ideals more clear, let us look at two different ideologies: Christianity and Satanism. Both Christians and Satanists are people, and one doesn't have a free pass to go around beating either over the head with baseball bats. But the government should not be telling foster parents that they have to teach their foster children that the two viewpoints are equal. 
 
Keep in mind that I am not calling gays satanists, so try not to blow a gasket. I simply tried to pick two very different "lifestyle choices" and point out that teaching them as equal makes no sense
