I have a favorite prayer. I carry it in a place set aside in my innermost being. "Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me." I say this once. I know God is looking upon me. "Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me." I say this a second time. I know I am humbling myself before Christ. "Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me." I say this a third time. I know if I stop here my prayer is become less vain with each repitition. "Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me." I am no longer saying this out loud, but the words have drifted into my heart. I am feeling quite humble. I sensing His grace encompassing me. "Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me." I say this a fifth repitition. I am reminded of the Messiah's Five Sacred Wounds redeeming mankind. "Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me." I have said it a sixth time. In my humility now have been granted the grace by the Holy Spirit to ask Him for more. "Lord Jesus, The Crucified Christ, shelter me in Thy wounds."
